What We Believe

1. THE SCRIPTURES — We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men who were inspired by the Holy Ghost, that it is all true, and that it is the final and complete revelation by God to man. By the “Holy Bible”, we mean that collection of 66 books, from Genesis to Revelation, which were and are inspired by God’s Holy Spirit, and have been providentially and perfectly preserved without error in the Authorized Version of 1611, more commonly known as the King James Bible. The King James Bible is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

2. THE ONE TRUE GOD — We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God. He is the Creator of the universe and is the supreme ruler of heaven and earth. He exists in the unity of the Godhead, which is made up of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are equal one with another, yet are distinct in their offices and functions.

3. SALVATION — We believe that salvation comes to man not by his own works, but only through the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is necessary because man is a sinful being, and sinful man needs to be reconciled to a sinless God. Jesus Christ was God’s only begotten Son, who died as man’s substitute on the cross of Calvary, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. The blood of Jesus Christ was shed on the cross to make an atonement for the sins of man, and this atonement is available by the grace of God, freely, to any and all who will receive Jesus Christ by faith. Men have a free will with which they can freely accept or freely reject the gift of salvation, and once a person has received Jesus Christ by faith, he or she is eternally secure in this salvation, which can never be lost.

4. THE VIRGIN BIRTH — We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit in a miraculous manner, was born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever born or ever will be. Jesus Christ is both the Son of God and God the Son.

5. SATAN— We believe that Satan was originally Lucifer, who once occupied an important position in Heaven as the anointed cherub that was over the throne of God. Through pride and sinful ambition he fell from his position and drew a host of angels with him. His is now referred to in the Bible as the “god of this world”, and he is the main power behind the apostasy of the time in which we live, as well as the leader of all the powers of darkness in this universe. He is a destroyer of everything that is clean and holy. He is destined to a final defeat at the hands of Jesus Christ, and will spend eternity in a lake of fire.

6. HELL — We believe that Hell is a real, literal place that the Bible says was created for the devil and his angels. Also, all those who reject Jesus Christ for their salvation will be sent there for eternity. It is a place of torment and punishment, described in the Bible as literal flames and fire. In the book of Revelation, Hell and its inhabitants are cast into a lake of fire, which burns forever.

7. BAPTISM — We believe that Baptism is commanded for a believer in Jesus Christ. It is done to show that the person being baptized is identifying himself with the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism is to be performed by immersion, not sprinkling, and is only for those persons who are old enough to understand what they are doing, and why they are doing it. Baptism has nothing to do with salvation whatsoever, but is simply an act of obedience and the answer of a good conscience toward God, to be performed AFTER a person is already saved.

8. END TIMES EVENTS – We believe that Jesus Christ will soon take his church, meaning all saved people, off this earth in an event which is commonly called the “rapture.” Those who are dead and were saved will be resurrected, and they will go up to meet the Lord in the air along with all those who are saved and are left alive on the earth. Shortly after that event, a seven year period of Tribulation will begin on the earth, in which the antichrist will seat himself on a throne in Jerusalem, declare himself to be God, and will demand worship. At the end of the Tribulation, Jesus Christ will make his second advent to earth, defeat the antichrist, and then set up his Kingdom at Jerusalem, which will run for 1000 years. The Bible calls this the Millennium, and Jesus Christ will rule the earth with a rod of iron. Satan is bound in the bottomless pit for the duration of the Millennium. After the Millennium is over, Satan is let loose, and he makes one last attempt to overthrow Jesus Christ. Satan is defeated, and is cast into the lake of fire forever.

9. MISSIONARY WORK — We believe that the command to give the gospel to all the world is very clear and unmistakable, and that this command was given to the churches and to all saved people worldwide.
